Schlegeisstausee - Friesenberghaus

Route length: 11km

The route to Friesenberghaus starts between the exit of the tunnel at the dam wall and Bergrestaurant Schlegeis and leads first of all to the turnoff Neue Dominikushütte, where you take the path on the right-hand side. On this path you firstly cross the Alele stream. Afterwards you cross a driveway, and just a little bit later you walk on shelves through a boggy meadow. After crossing the Falschseitenbach you go through mountain pines to the grazing area of the Friesenbergalm (2036m), where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Schleigeis dam lake. Afterwards the path leads to Lapenkar and you can see your destination point far away for the first time. Now you walk directly into the great Kar, over the Lapenkarbach to the right-hand side, then one step upwards, again a little bit into the valley, then stay on the right side and walk up the hill, and finally go in a wide bow over a steep step underneath the hut. Here is also the Berliner Höhenweg, which leads to the Olpererhut. Further you walk up on the right-hand side over big, sharpened rock beams to the hut.
