Magnificent view and stunning panorama, ending at the foot of the impressive dam wall!
Route No. 473 starts directly outside the Europahaus in Mayrhofen. A canyon road leads from here in the direction of Brandberg and into the Zillergrund Valley. Follow the asphalt road past Gasthof Zillergrund on the right and, after a few metres, you will reach the toll station. The quiet and traffic-restricted road leads straight on into the valley. Along the way, "Gasthaus Klaushof" and "Häusling Alm," invite you to take a break for refreshments. After around ten kilometres you will pass "Gasthaus Häusling", Maria Schnee Chapel and one of several power stations. Continue into the valley until Sundergrund, one of Zillergrund’s tributary valleys, branches away to the right. Here, you have another opportunity to stop for a break at "Gasthaus In der Au". After two hairpin bends, it is only a few more metres until Bärenbadalm alpine guesthouse, from where you can enjoy an incredible view of the gigantic dam wall. Take the same route back for your return journey.
Tip: If you still have some energy left over, you could continue along route no. 474 from Bärenbadalm to the dam and Hohenaualm, where even more impressive views await.
